Annual HWB Initiatives

Each year Aspen Medical participates in and or supports a range of health and wellbeing initiatives that are Community driven.  These include:

Influenza Vaccination Program

Around April to May each year Aspen Medical team members are encouraged to get a flu jab to help reduce the risk of getting the flu. The cost of the vaccination can be reimbursed through Oracle.

Go Dry This July

Dry July is a fundraiser that encourages participants to go alcohol-free in July to raise funds for people affected by cancer. It’s also about making some healthy lifestyle changes.

The funds you raise as part of your Dry July will provide invaluable services for cancer patients, their families and carers – whether it’s a lift to a life-saving appointment, guidance from a specialist nurse, connection to an informative voice, access to therapy programs or a bed close to treatment.

Having a month off alcohol also has great health benefits, such as sleeping better, having more energy and of course, no hangovers! So you’re not only helping others, you’re helping yourself. It’s a win-win!

Correspondence regarding how to participate will commence late June.  If you’d like more information, check out the Aspen Medical dashboard here Aspen Medical Dry July Dashboard

STEPtember

September is the month for STEPtember! The Cerebral Palsy Alliance facilitates this virtual event that challenges up to….STEP UP… throughout the month of September. By participating and raising funds for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, we’re helping people living with this disability, which is sustained immediately before, during or just after birth and impacts a persons’ posture and ability to move.

The event runs from 1 September through to 30 September. Correspondence regarding how to participate will commence late June.  If you’d like more information check out this link.

RU OK?

How do we ensure we’re all ok?

Whilst September is the ‘official’ month for us all to ask the question ….R U OK?….. we can all ask this at any time we feel or notice that someone around us might not be doing too well or might simply need someone to listen. We don’t necessarily have to be able to solve their issues – often just having someone listen to our problems can be incredibly powerful and all we need. The RU OK? website has plenty of useful resources and ideas to help us get involved – check out their website here.

Mental Health Month

Throughout October each year we celebrate and acknowledge Mental Health month, by way of a range of initiatives and activities.

Your HSE team will provide more information on these initiatives at an appropriate time.
