Promoting Positive Mental Health: Aspen Medical Initiatives

R U OK? Day

Each year, Aspen Medical promotes and supports the RU Ok? Day. Their website provides a wide range of information on how to ask someone if they’re okay and ways you can support them if they respond that they are not okay. While we celebrate RU OK? annually, it is good to be aware and prepared to ask this question any time you feel someone may do with having someone to chat with or needs some help.

Mental Health Awareness Month

Aspen Medical also promotes the annual Mental Health Month in October each year.

2020

During Mental Health Week 2020, Aspen Medical developed a series of informative, casual discussion videos covering a wide range of everyday mental health issues, which can be seen here:

Session 1:  Premeditated Kindness

Session 2:  Language of Stress

Session 3:  Inner peace is hiding in plain sight

Session 4:  Social media and its impact on our sense of self

Session 5:  If we’re not happy, are we depressed?

2022

In March 2022 we had a discussion with both Chris Thompson-Lang and Shami Rahman who are both returned service personnel. We chat about some of the challenges each faced as they they returned to civilian life, and how they approached and dealt with these challenges.

The series can be seen here:

2023

In 2023, our Clinical Manager Credentialing and Mental Health Services Dr Albert Valadez put together a vidoe about mental health. He talks about the signs and symptoms to look out for, and what we can do to ensure positive mental health and wellbeing for ourselves.

In October 2023, we released a very candid video presentation from one of our own about Mental Health. Aspen Medical’s Director – Global Communications, Media & PR Eamonn Quinn opens up about his own mental health in a special Mental Health Awareness Month Fireside Chat.

Health and Wellbeing Program

Our Health and Wellbeing Program contains a range of initiatives which you may also find helpful.

Your HSE Manager can also provide advice if you require further support.
